What is stress?

Yes it's me! David Shirley. All those years of stress shows!

We all need stimulii to keep life interesting. There is creativity is all of us that needs to be expressed. This is what we need to give us our individuality, we find fulfillment by overcoming obstacles.

But sometimes if the challenges continue too long or increase too much they become stress.

If you think of goal posts and the crossbar, what is below the crossbar are healthy challenges and what is above is stress.

If something happens in our lives that causes the crossbar to move down, for example, if you go through sickness, bereavement etc. Then what was within our grasp before suddenly becomes stress.

So I would like to introduce you to practical ways of understanding your stress and what you can do to lessen or overcome it.

  • Collect the facts
  • Make a plan
  • Exercise
  • Never self-medicate
